If you’ve been paying attention to my YouTube channel recently, or just following me on Instagram, then you know that October was completely transformative for my brand.
YouTube ended up picking up one of my videos and started promoting it on people’s homepages.
And because of that, my channel went from 2k subscribers to now 11.5k subscribers in a matter of weeks!
It’s been totally crazy to watch.
But honestly just so amazing to see all my hard work over the last few years truly pay off.
So as you guys know, whenever something happens within my brand, the first thing I want to do is tell you guys!
I love being able to share my experiences and help you along in your journey.
So if you’re a small YouTuber and you want to learn why my channel went viral…
Or maybe you’re just a long-time supporter and you want to see my stats…
This blog post is for you!
So let’s get into it!
I wish I could give you a set list of steps to follow if you want to go viral.
But you already know that this isn’t possible.
So what I’ll tell you, is that it’s all because of SEO.
Yeah.
I got a decent amount of people to question me when I shared that as a small YouTuber, you want to focus on appearing in search, not suggested.
And the main reason why is because everyone on YouTube will tell you that if you want to blow up, then you need to get suggested by YouTube.
And that’s true!
That’s how my account ended up going viral!
But that wouldn’t have been possible if I didn’t first focus on appearing in search!
Here’s the deal.
YouTube will only pick up YouTube videos and start recommending them on people’s home pages and within the sidebar after it has seen some results.
They aren’t going to pick up a video that has 10 views and only 1 like and start recommending it to people.
That wouldn’t make any sense!
Before they are willing to recommend a video, they need to see the proof that it’s a good video!
And the main things that they look for is audience engagement (likes, dislikes, comments, views, shares), click-through-rate (CTR), and average view duration.
Honestly, I could go on forever about these main ranking factors.
But instead, I’m going to send you to this video so you can learn more about the algorithm and what each of these things mean!
So if you’re a small YouTuber who has less than 1,000 subscribers and each of your videos is getting around 100 or fewer views, it’s nearly impossible for YouTube to pick up your video to go viral!
So you don’t want to focus on the suggested section!
Before anything else, you need to focus on search.
Search is going to help put your videos in front of the people who are actually searching for them.
AND THEN when you have more and more people click on your video, watch it, and engage with it positively, THEN AND ONLY THEN will YouTube pick up your video and suggest it on people’s home pages.
And that’s exactly what happened to me.
A few months ago, I became monetized on YouTube.
And I knew “My First YouTube Paycheck” videos did pretty well on YouTube when it came to views.
So I thought, I might as well share my experience about getting monetized before I even receive my paycheck.
And it was kinda like this blog post.
Whenever something exciting happens, I want to share it with you guys!
So I created that video without much thought!
Little did I know that 3 months later, after performing pretty well in search and already generating over 8,000 views by itself, YouTube started to recommend that video on people’s home pages.
And that’s when it all happened.
On October 20th, I noticed that my views jumped from 2k a day to over 4k a day.
And in the next 2 weeks, I had gained 6,000 new subscribers on my channel.
That video now has over 80,000 views, 3,000 comments, and almost 5,000 likes.
And it wouldn’t have been possible if I didn’t focus on search.
So that’s why I say that search and your YouTube SEO is so so important!
Okay.
I love a good income report or analytic report.
So today I want to share my first ever YouTube analytic report!
I’m honestly so excited for this because the stats are insane!
Let’s get to it!
At the start of October, I was generating less than 1,000 views a day.
But honestly, I was still so so happy with that!
With those views, I was still making enough with my ads revenue to get paid out every month from Google Adsense.
But then as you know, my views started to spike on October 20th!
And on October 30th, I generated 13,000 views in just 1 day.
1 DAY!
I seriously still can’t believe it.
I already told you about the dramatic growth in my subscriber count.
But I want to break it down!
So at the start of October, I was gaining between 20 and 40 new subscribers a day!
And if we take a look at the previous months, in September, I gained a little less than 700 subscribers.
But then in October…
I gained 6,000 new subscribers in just 1 month.
Honestly, I gained 6,000 subscribers in 2 weeks!
And that’s truly insane to me!
Now, this is the part that most people want to see.
SHOW ME THE MONEY!
I get it.
So let’s talk about the revenue and how much I made just with ads.
But before we get into the stats, I want to say that the growth of my channel didn’t just lead to more ads revenue!
My paid products doubled from September to October. And my affiliate marketing skyrocketed as well!
But I’m not going to share those stats here because I just want to talk about the YouTube stats.
So here’s what I was making my first few months of being monetized on YouTube…
As you can imagine, with the spike in my views on YouTube came a big spike in my revenue.
So in October, I ended up making $994.96.
Less than $6 short of $1,000!
CRAZY!
And on October 30th, I made the most money that I’ve ever made in 1 day from my ads ($114.76).
As you may already know, I’m focusing on YouTube related YouTube content.
I’m sharing my experience, what I’ve learned, and I’m honestly just trying to create the content I wish I had when I was getting started.
I want to help all the small YouTubers out there.
And with the growth of my channel, I’m just learning more and more and I can’t wait to share!
In the future, I’m not really sure what my content will be!
Will I talk more about blogging and Pinterest?
I can’t honestly say for sure.
I’m just so grateful for where my channel’s at and I’m ready to go with the flow and create the best content for you guys!
See you back here soon!
